The Ins and Outs of a Successful Law School Career (1Ls and LLMs)

GSU COL professor and director of the Academic Success Program Kendall L. Kerew will spend the morning with incoming 1Ls and LLMs discussing the ins and outs of law school. They will practice briefing a case, and will discuss law school myths, effective study skills, etc.

Entering Law School Successfully (Pre-Law) (Track 1)

GSU COL Faculty Associate for Pre-Law Programming, Ryan Grelecki, will provide tips, techniques, and information to pre-law students who want to apply to law school. The pre-law students will have an opportunity to receive guidance on the application process and how to plan for law school well in advance.

This is What You Came For: The Bar Exam (Track 2)

Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School Assistant Dean of Academic Achievement, Sarah Murphy, will provide tips, techniques, and information to current law students expected to take the bar exam in 2020. This will be a great opportunity for our current students to gain insight of the bar exam and relieve pre-exam anxieties.

Legal Writing Workshop: Personal Statements and LSAT Essays - (Pre-Law Students)

GSU COL Faculty Associate for Pre-Law Programming, Ryan Grelecki, will introduce pre-law students to the importance of legal writing for their admittance into law school. The pre-law students will learn tips on how to effectively draft personal statements, how to obtain letters of recommendations and how to tackle the LSAT essay.

Legal Writing Workshop: (2L/3L/LLMs)

Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School Associate Professor, Browning Jeffries, will provide the law students with an introduction to contract drafting. The current students will be introduced to the basic concepts and importance of contract drafting regardless of a student's choice in practice area.

Lunch & Learn- Getting Involved in the Bar

During lunch our students will be introduced to attorneys serving as leaders in different local bar associations. Our bar associations leaders will share information about their bar associations, explain how students can get involved, and their experience serving as leaders in the legal community.
